Privacy Policy
Effective date: March 2026
What data is stored
The extension saves the following information exclusively in your browser's local storage (chrome.storage.local / browser.storage.local):
- Your selected country
- IDs of weather alerts already seen (for deduplication)
- The full list of currently active alerts (for display in the alerts page)
- Timestamp of the last successful check
This data never leaves your device and is not accessible to any third party.
Geolocation
If you click the Detect button, the extension requests your browser's geolocation (latitude and longitude) solely to auto-select your country. The coordinates are sent in a single request to Nominatim (OpenStreetMap's reverse geocoding service) to resolve a country name. They are not stored, logged, or shared beyond this single lookup.
Geolocation is never accessed automatically โ only when you explicitly click Detect.
Network requests
The extension makes the following outbound requests:
- feeds.meteoalarm.org โ fetches the public MeteoAlarm Atom feed for your selected country every 15 minutes. No personal data is included in this request.
- nominatim.openstreetmap.org โ called once when you click Detect, passing your latitude and longitude to resolve a country name.
No other network requests are made.
Third-party services
The extension relies on two external services. Their own privacy policies apply to requests made to them:
- MeteoAlarm โ operated by EUMETNET
- OpenStreetMap / Nominatim
No analytics or tracking
The extension contains no analytics, telemetry, crash reporting, or any form of usage tracking. No data is ever sent to the extension's developers.
Changes to this policy
If this policy is updated, the new version will be published at this URL with a revised effective date.
